ALPHA IOTA BROCHURE If any of our members would like to have our updated brochures to share with women in education who may consider joining our chapter, please contact Joan. The brochure may help you share information about DKG-Alpha Iota Inspirational Quote of the Month Nothing is impossible, the word itself says “I'm possible”! --Audrey Hepburn. Consider what you can do in Alpha Iota this year. What strengths do you have that can be used "for the common good?" We are pleased to receive the 2016-2018 Delta Kappa Gamma International Certification Seal for our website. Share the web site address with others: http://deltakappagamma-alphaiota.weebly.com/ We are also on Facebook! - THOUGHTS FROM JEAN Exciting ideas are on the horizon! After our October meeting, we delved deeper into the idea of writing grants with conversations with Allison, Peggy, and Jen Fanning. We are looking at writing an Action Grant application to help with book bags being given to families working with Rock County Social Services that would be individualized for that family. We would like to apply for an International Educational Foundation grant for the Brain Bags that the Early Literacy Task Force is hoping to give out to families of newborns in Rock County. For children who have needs to be more active, we are planning to apply for a Give Back award. This would provide flexible seating for students at Kennedy Elementary School where Jen is the principal. These are some new initiatives for us that offer future possibilities for our chapter. Special thanks to Linda Edwards and Robin Strohacker who have offered to help write the applications for these grants. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are going through personal or family difficulties at this time. Please let us know how we can help! Member Updates: Jean’s bro ther continues to have ups and downs after receiving a stem cell transplant. Continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers. Linda Holte will have surgery for heart issues on Oct.15th at St. Mary’s in Madison. Keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Keep Bev, Linda L. and Pat informed if you know a member in need of our thoughts and prayers. Member UpdatesJean Schollmeier is recovering from a procedure to repair a problem in her hip suffered in Pickleball. Therapy coming soon.

Grants and Giving BackBe thinking about what our Chapter could use through writing and receipt of an Action Grant or a foundation Give Back. Information for both can be found on the Sigma State website, the Foundation Amazon Smile Fundraiser as seen on page one of this month's newsletter, or in the Action Grant box. Bring your ideas to the meeting.
